Vision & Mission
Guiding principles that shape the theological work of the Indian Theological Association.
Our Vision
To be the premier body of theological scholarship in India, nurturing a living tradition of Christian theology that is authentically rooted in the Indian soil, enriched by interreligious wisdom, committed to the liberation of the marginalized, and oriented toward the flourishing of all creation.
The Indian Theological Association envisions a future where Indian Christian theology is recognized worldwide as a vital and creative tradition in its own right, one that draws strength from the encounter between the Gospel and the rich cultural, philosophical, and spiritual heritage of the Indian subcontinent.
Our Mission
What We Set Out to Do

To provide a national forum for theologians to engage in rigorous academic discourse, collaborative research, and theological exchange.
- 3
To encourage interreligious and ecumenical dialogue as an integral dimension of theological inquiry in the Indian context.
- 4
To amplify the theological voices of marginalized communities, including Dalits, tribals, women, and other historically excluded groups.
- 5
To publish and disseminate scholarly theological literature that contributes to the development of Indian Christian thought.
- 6
To engage critically with contemporary issues such as social justice, ecological responsibility, communal harmony, and human rights from a theological perspective.
- 7
To nurture a new generation of Indian theologians committed to contextual, prophetic, and liberative theological practice.
